But some novice friends don’t know much about fog lights. They either can’t find the switch at all, or turn on the fog lights when they shouldn’t be used. Today we will start from the beginning and share with you the knowledge about fog lights bit by bit.
1. Front fog lights and rear fog lights
Front fog lights can provide certain auxiliary lighting and can also increase the recognition of the vehicle. The rear fog light is red, mainly used to indicate your position and increase vehicle recognition.
According to national standards, family cars do not need to be equipped with front fog lights, but they must have at least one rear fog light. So we discovered that some cars have front fog lights and some don't. Some cars have two rear fog lights, while others have only one rear fog light.
2. Where is the fog light switch?
The fog light switch is usually together with the headlight switch. For example, the two headlight combination switches in the picture above are the most common, and most cars have this design. We can easily find the fog light switch and control it.
However, some car fog light switches are not located in these places. You may not use them when driving, and you don't care. When you really need to use them, you suddenly find that there is no fog light switch in a familiar place. This is very dangerous in an emergency. of. In order to avoid this situation, we must be familiar with the location of the fog light switch of our car. Generally, fog light switches like to be set in these places:

3. Fog light activation logic
The turning logic of automobile fog lights is very special, which is different from that of high and low beams. Therefore, even if some drivers can find the fog light switch, they may not be able to turn on the fog lights accurately. There are two main conditions for turning on the fog lights:
Conditions for turning on the front fog lights: the width lights or low beam lights must be turned on.
Conditions for turning on the rear fog lights: The front fog lights (if equipped) must be turned on before the rear fog lights can be turned on.
After the fog lights are turned on, the fog light indicator light will light up on the dashboard. The front fog light is a green icon with light pointing to the left, and the rear fog light is a yellow icon with light pointing to the right. After turning on the fog lights, be sure to observe the dashboard to confirm that the fog lights are working properly.
Some fog light switches stay in the on position after they are turned on, while some fog light switches do not stay in the on position. When turning on, you only need to turn the switch to the corresponding position to turn on the fog lights. After letting go, the switch will automatically reset. This These are all normal phenomena.
4. When to use fog lights?
Normally, fog lights can be turned on in foggy weather to improve safety. But in reality, the use of fog lights is very flexible, especially front fog lights. Because the light of the front fog lamps illuminates the surroundings evenly, turning on the front fog lamps under special circumstances can also obtain a certain auxiliary lighting effect, especially in the areas on both sides of the front of the car. But this is only our emergency use, and it does not mean that it can be used in normal driving.
In addition, when driving in heavy rain, the wheels rolling over the water will form a large amount of water mist on the ground. At this time, the line of sight will also be foggy. If the rain and fog are too severe and affect our vision, we can also turn on the fog lights to increase the visibility of our vehicles. resolution.
5. Turning auxiliary lighting function of fog lamps
Because the side light of fog lamps is very strong and can illuminate a large area on both sides of the front of the car, some cars use front fog lamps as auxiliary lighting for corners. When driving with the headlights on, the front fog lights on the corresponding side will automatically turn on to assist in illuminating the road after the steering wheel turns a certain angle, improving safety. So when you find that only one of the front fog lights is on, please first check to see if the steering wheel is not straight.
6. Don’t abuse fog lights
Fog lights can only be used under certain circumstances, but in reality many car owners always like to turn on all lights when driving at night, which is very uncivilized driving behavior. Because under normal circumstances fog lights will interfere with other drivers. The front fog light is actually equivalent to a high beam light that does not focus well and will affect oncoming vehicles. The rear fog lights are too bright and are brighter than the brake lights. Turning on the rear fog lights when driving at night will cause serious interference to the cars behind you.
