Get up! The headlights will work better if you adjust them like this!

I believe many drivers will encounter being illuminated by high beams every night. Turning on high beams when meeting or following a car in the city will seriously affect the vision of other drivers. Therefore, in urban areas, under normal circumstances, try to turn on the high beam as little as possible, and the correct exchange of high and low beams is an important guarantee for civilized driving.

Sometimes these vehicles that appear to have high beams turned on actually have low beams turned on, but the height of the low beams is relatively high. In daily driving, whether the headlights are too high or too low is not conducive to driving safety. Let's take a look at how to adjust the low beam height yourself.

Under what circumstances should the headlight height be adjusted?

1. The headlights were misaligned after encountering a slight impact.

2. Replacement of headlight parts caused misalignment

3. Wrong/misaligned headlight height caused by other reasons

How to quickly determine whether the low beam headlights are in the wrong position?

When we drive normally, observe the height of the low beam. If the tangent line reaches above the rearview mirror of the car in front, then the height of the low beam must be wrong. In addition, if the low beam headlights are turned on to illuminate the wall and the tangent positions of the left and right low beam headlights do not coincide, then the position is wrong. The standard low beam position is that the tangent lines of the left and right headlights coincide. The tangent line of a single low beam is low on the left and high on the right, instead of the so-called "low on the left and high on the right" for the left and right headlights.

Of course, many people will ask why not go directly to the 4S store for maintenance and adjustments. It is undeniable that this is the simplest and most effective. However, some 4S stores are relatively remote, and it is not difficult to adjust the height of the low beam. Why not DIY it. It should be noted that it is difficult to adjust the light width. It is not recommended to adjust it by yourself. If the light width is really inappropriate due to collision or other reasons, it is recommended to go to the 4S store in time for standard adjustment.

Headlight adjustment method

Preparation tools: tape for marking, Phillips screwdriver or Allen key, flashlight, tape measure

Location: White wall in underground parking lot

First, find a clean wall, park the car about 3 meters away from the wall, and measure the distance from the center of the vehicle's low beam headlights to the ground. Based on our measurement of the low beam height above the ground, we used tape to set a baseline on the wall in front of the car. (The reason why the tape setting is used is that the tape can be easily removed after use to avoid staining the wall) The adjustment standard is that the tangent line is slightly lower than the mark, and the method for the left and right headlights is similar.

In addition, if your car has a headlight height adjustment knob, you should first adjust the headlight height adjustment knob to "0" before adjusting the headlights.

Find the adjustment bolt behind the headlight assembly. The adjustment bolts of many models have teeth around them. It is easy to judge. The parts that need to be adjusted and the tools used are different for different models, which need to be determined according to the specific model.

It should be noted that some car lights have integrated low and high beams, so there are generally two adjustment bolts for adjusting height and width; while headlights with independent near and high beams can adjust the height of low beam and high beam respectively. The width can also be adjusted, so there may be 3-4 adjustment bolts.

When adjusting, tighten the bolt with one hand and observe the change of the tangent position on the wall. Adjust according to the height of the mark. The standard is that the tangent height of the low beam is lower than the baseline.

Note: When adjusting the height of the headlights, it is best not to sit in the car. If there are a lot of heavy objects in the trunk or the car is fully loaded, the height of the vehicle will drop a lot, which will have a big impact on adjusting the height of the headlights.

Have you all gotten it? If new and experienced drivers encounter headlight problems, you may wish to give it a try!
