Are those headlight repairs online really useful? Which kind of effect is better and how long can it last?
Today’s experiment is planned. At the end, I will summarize the analysis and conclusion. There are two most common methods for repairing headlights on the market, spraying and fumigation.
Their construction conditions are different. One is to be operated indoors and the other is to be operated outdoors. Then we will use one of them first and operate indoors according to this requirement. According to the merchant's tutorial for this product, we used 6 types of sandpaper to polish with water in turn.
The first one is 180 mesh which is the thickest.
Then use 360 mesh, 600 mesh, 800 mesh, 1000 mesh, and 1500 mesh. Each type of polishing lasts 5 minutes. What you need to pay attention to when polishing is that the polishing direction must be consistent, not left and right for a while, up and down for a while.
Otherwise, obvious sandpaper marks will appear after repair. Then we use the method of grinding left and right.
It took a total of 30 minutes to polish everything. We are now using the smoked product,
Pour the repair solution into the container, plug it in, wait 3 minutes and then heat it up. Then align the mouth of the cup with the surface of the lampshade to see the effect. Pay attention to the smoking process and do it in one go. It should be smoked in order, in one direction, not back and forth.
Once everything is smoked, wait for 30 minutes until it is completely dry. The effect comparison, before and after repair, is still very obvious.
According to this merchant, it can last for 1-3 years. However, some netizens left messages saying that some of them said that there is no effect after 3 months, and some said that it is still very new after 8 months, so there is no way to verify this for the time being. I can only use time to verify it.
Now we will use the second method to spray.
This kind of construction requires that it be outdoors and there must be sunshine. Therefore, we waited for several days and the construction conditions were only available today. We infer that the reason for the need for ultraviolet light has little to do with temperature, because, what do you want to do in winter?
Next, let's start and operate according to the merchant's requirements. This merchant only issued 2 types of sandpaper, 800 mesh and 2000 mesh model requirements. First use 800 mesh sandpaper to polish until it turns white like this. There is no time required. Be specific and clear.
Then use 2000-grit sandpaper and continue polishing for a while. Also use water to polish. It is said that you can use 2000-grit sandpaper to polish for a while longer, so we took about 5 minutes for each method.
After polishing, we wipe it dry with paper towels to avoid dust particles remaining. Because it is sprayed, we must be prepared to protect it from flying paint to other places. In places other than the lamp, we lay newspapers or plastic bags.
After everything is ready, we start spraying. Please note here that spraying is also very particular. Shake it evenly first. When spraying in a focused manner, you can only spray a few times with an interval of 2-3 minutes. Never spray too much, so the scale needs to be adjusted. Okay, we just started spraying and it seemed to have some effect, so we kept spraying without mastering the amount. I always felt that if I sprayed more, it would be more translucent, so I sprayed too much, and the result was like this, hazy and not translucent enough.
Consult the manufacturer and the solution is to re-sand it with sandpaper and re-apply. Finally, we did it again. After everything was done, we needed to expose it to the sun for 2-3 hours.
We have completed both methods, and you can see the effect comparison.
Personally, I feel that fumigation is better because its construction conditions and requirements are relatively simple and easy to operate. The most important thing is that the effect is pretty good.
In the end, I can only use time to verify how long they can last. You can follow me and I will give you the answer one day when there is a change!
