Since the famous Audi was named a lighting manufacturer, we will find that the shape and function of car headlights have attracted more and more attention. Today we will talk about the common types of headlights on the market.
Halogen lamp
To put it bluntly, halogen headlights are incandescent lamps with added halogen elements. They use the principle of tungsten halogen cycle to eliminate the blackening of the incandescent lamp shell. Halogen headlights are the most common type of headlights on cars. They are mostly found in models priced under 200,000 yuan and in low-profile models of some high-end brands. It has many advantages, including cheapness, fast lighting speed, and high visibility in rainy and foggy days. The disadvantage is that it is too low, and it really doesn’t look tall enough.
xenon lamp
Xenon lamps can be said to be all-powerful in the modification industry in the past few years. Many halogen lamp owners have modified their headlights into xenon lamps. Because the light source is white and the effect of the lens, it looks more beautiful and the lighting effect at night is better. clear. Xenon lamps use the light emitted by xenon discharge as a light source. Although they have the advantage of saving electricity, they take time to light up. This is a major disadvantage of xenon lamps, and they are more expensive. As the mainstream configuration of high-end models in the past, they are gradually being replaced. To be replaced by LED headlights.
LED headlight
The Chinese name of LED is light-emitting diode. In fact, it has always been used in cars. In 2008, the Audi R8 was the first car to use all-LED headlights. Since LED headlights became popular, the shape of the car lights has become more and more beautiful. Huan, various lighting forms emerge in endlessly.
Moreover, LED is more energy-saving, has high brightness, fast lighting time, and can adjust a lot of illumination modes. This is why it has begun to replace xenon lamps and become the mainstream configuration of high-end models. However, LED headlights are not without their shortcomings. They generate a lot of heat, and their luminous efficiency is also affected by high temperatures, so they are generally equipped with radiators, which indirectly leads to the disadvantage of high costs.
Laser headlights
Speaking of lasers, you will definitely think of these: Ultraman, Star Wars scenes... Don’t think too much, back to the lights, let’s first understand what the irradiation distance of the first few types of headlights is generally, halogen The headlights are about 100 meters away, the xenon lamps are about 170 meters away, the LED headlights are about 300 meters away, and the laser headlights are about 300 meters away. . . It can reach about 600 meters! !
This is the biggest advantage of laser headlights, but precisely because they shine too far, laser headlights usually do not turn on when driving at low speeds. Domestic regulations even limit the distance to 475 meters. Laser headlights have all the advantages of LED headlights, and are smaller in size, leaving more space for designers to design the front face. However, the price of laser headlights seems to be a flaw now. Currently, only models such as the BMW 7 Series or Audi R8 are equipped with them. It will take time for them to become as popular as LED headlights.
After reading today’s small lesson, do you think that car headlights are becoming more and more cool nowadays? But finally, I would like to remind everyone, don’t turn on your high beams at night just to look cool!
