8. Do a routine inspection. The car owner said that the oil, water and fluid have been replaced. The focus is on the timing belt inspection and the treatment of oil leakage.
First check whether the air conditioner has warm air but not cold air. Obviously, the replica servo motor for switching the air ducts of the heating and cooling air conditioners is broken, so it can never be switched to the cold air duct, and the servo motor must be replaced.
After checking the quiescent current, it was found that the leakage was caused by the integrated navigation unit installed by the car owner at an outside decoration shop. After removing it, the quiescent current returned to the normal value.
All the lights in the car did not come on because the fuses were blown. Later, I consulted the car owner and found out that when the car owner was replacing the trunk lighting bulb, the screwdriver hit the iron, causing an instant short circuit and the fuses burned. After replacing the fuses, the problem was solved.
The leakage of the wiper water bottle and the inability to spray water are all caused by the wiper spray motor of this subsidiary factory. The motor housing was cracked, causing water leakage, and the motor core was damaged, causing it to stop working, so it stopped spraying water.
The reason why the engine and gearbox shook when shifting into gear was also found. The rubber inside the auxiliary bracket was broken. In fact, the car owner knew it, so he stuffed some rubber skin in it, thinking it could alleviate it, but it turned out to be useless.
The connecting rod rubber sleeve of the gearbox auxiliary bracket is also cracked. Let's replace it this time. It's not expensive anyway.
Without further ado, get ready for demolition. The focus is on engine oil leakage, mainly the valve cover gasket and camshaft adjuster gasket. Any repairman who has dismantled the engine of this car knows that the densely packed vacuum tubes in this car are a hell.
I bought a new wiper spray motor, a Volkswagen original part, and a few rubber pipes to repair the broken wiper spray pipe.
The plastic parts of old cars are the hardest hit area. It's fine if you don't touch them, but they will damage you if you touch them. They are basically crunchy and will break when you touch them. It doesn't matter. I will replace the plugs and repair them for you.
Removing the valve cover gasket is a troublesome thing. There is no other way. If there is oil leakage, it must be removed even if it is troublesome. After opening the cover, I found that the inside of the engine was quite clean, golden yellow, and no sludge.
The back of the valve cover is blackened by exhaust gas. This is normal. We will clean it ourselves in a while.
Some parts arrived first in the morning, and they were installed as much as they arrived. After all, this old car will suffer new losses when it is dismantled. You have to be mentally prepared for a protracted war when repairing an old car.
If the rear taillight cracks and water enters, it not only affects the lighting and warning functions, but also poses a safety hazard, because water vapor can cause the circuit to short-circuit and burn.
Without further ado, we started to dismantle it. Fortunately, I took it apart and took a look at the timing belt. I guess it hasn't been replaced in several years. The belt is full of cracks and will definitely break if I keep driving.
While replacing the timing belt and valve cover gasket, many hardened and brittle pipes broke when we fiddled with them. There were a lot of pipes to order, and pipes for this car are difficult to find, which gave me a headache.
Especially these crankcase ventilation pipes, which will age or even become clogged after basically three to five years. It’s better to choose the right time than to hit it. Let’s replace them all today.
These aging tees and water pipes are all hidden dangers of pipe bursting in summer. People are afraid of bursting blood vessels (becoming Wu Laoer), and cars are afraid of bursting water pipes.
Look carefully at the edges of these tubes. There are traces of dried and scabbed signs of antifreeze leakage. Take this opportunity to catch them all.
After dismantling this pile of things and finding that they have been damaged or are about to be damaged, in one word, replace them!
There was an unexpected discovery during the disassembly. The one-way valve was also broken, and the car reported that the mixer was too lean. The crux was here.
The guy was very responsible. He took off the camshaft and cleaned it completely, then cleaned the adjuster, and then replaced the adjuster pad.
After laying a new valve cover gasket, it is estimated that there will be no oil leakage within three to five years.

The next day, new parts for these leaking and aging tees and water pipes arrived, including the leaking one-way valve.
When dismantling, there are densely packed pipelines, so don’t take the trouble to put them back together when installing. That’s how repairing old cars is, you have to be patient.
Broken plugs must be repaired, and details determine success or failure. When we repair a car, every detail and flaw must be repaired, otherwise we will not be able to sleep at night.
Various plugs are always available at home. Whether you are overhauling an engine or refurbishing an old car, they are a must-have.
Most of the "crunching" sound when going over a bumpy road is caused by the stabilizer bar bushing. Why not take this opportunity to eliminate the hidden dangers at once.
Because the subframe is removed, it is easier to replace the two bushings. If you replace them on the car, it will cost you half your life.
Remember to apply some silicone grease on the bushing to help lubricate and protect the rubber sleeve. Remember, it must be silicone grease, not ordinary butter.
The next step is to deal with the Yuanbaoliang bushing. I believe that for most repairmen, replacing this bushing is a nightmare. Yes, in order to replace this, the entire Yuanbaoliang has to be dismantled, but there is no way. We are responsible for the car and the car owner.
A special tool is borrowed, which is actually a sleeve to press the new bushing in and the old one out. Because this kind of work is not much in normal times, otherwise I would definitely buy a special tool to keep at home.
Comparing the old and new bushings, this bushing is in two parts, the upper and lower pieces. When pressed, they will jostle and deform each other, so a special sleeve must be used.
By the way, I also replaced the connecting rod of the auxiliary bracket. It is definitely stable now and there will be no more impact when shifting gears.
Look, it's as stable as a mountain, isn't it? Now I feel confident.
When installing the new stabilizer bar bushing, there are positioning hole pins on the cover plate. I fiddled with it with a screwdriver to make sure the positioning hole pins are aligned.
The Yuanbaoliang is installed and refurbished. It's beautiful. This part won't need to be touched for at least five years.
Oil leaks not only occur in the engine, but also in the gearbox. Aisin's machine has one place that is most likely to leak: the half-shaft oil seal!
I pried off the old half-shaft oil seal. It has been in service for more than ten years. The oil leakage cannot be blamed on poor quality. In a country where I lived a good life, the rubber is still good.
The new original half-shaft oil seal, the one from NOK is really good. This part will not leak oil for at least five years.
The next step is to deal with the problem of shaking like chaff at around 60 yards. After my brother picked up girls during the Chinese New Year...ah, no, it was from my experience in repairing cars that I accurately determined that the inner ball cage of the right half shaft was broken.
According to the requirements of the Volkswagen manufacturer, the entire half shaft must be replaced, and it is not very expensive. It costs roughly more than one thousand oceans and less than two thousand.
In order to save some money for our eldest brother to have his hair washed and foot massaged after he got home, we chose to replace his inner ball cage and found a relatively reliable ball cage brand to directly replace the old inner ball cage.
Okay, the inner ball cage has been replaced, and the money for the half shaft has been saved. The elder brother remembers to think of the younger brother when he goes to wash his hair and get a massage, wear it and enjoy it together!
Replace the half-shaft of the new inner ball cage in place, so that there will probably be no more "car vibration massage" at 60 yards.
Put the repaired Yuanbaoliang back on, and the chassis part is basically the same.
Every screw in Yuan Baoliang is tightened to the specified torque with a kilogram wrench. Since repairing old cars is a classic feeling, it must be treated with 10% seriousness.

The car owner did not inform him in advance about the problem with the rear shock absorber rubber block, but since we found out that it was bad, we also replaced it for him.

The installation position of this servo motor is very "unruly", and it is very troublesome to disassemble and assemble. After a lot of effort, it was finally dismantled.
This is the motor that needs to be replaced, because there are many servo motors in the air conditioning system, and we don’t know what the shape of the motor head for switching between heating and cooling looks like, so I ordered all three shapes of motors and will return the other two when I use one. go back.

The problem is far from over, the problem of headlight lighting has not been solved yet. There are two main reasons for dim lighting. 1. The headlight surface is yellowing and aging. The solution is to directly replace the headlight surface, but unfortunately, the light surface of this car is not available on the market and can only be refurbished.
2. The aging of the headlight lens is like cataracts. This is caused by the natural aging of the lens.
The lens of this car is a Bosch halogen single-light lens. Our plan is to change it to a Hella 5 bi-light xenon headlight lens in one step.
Replacing the lens is the most cost-effective solution with the most immediate effect. Say goodbye to candle lights and embark on the bright road.
The effect of xenon headlights is indeed incredible, especially Hella 5, known as the king of lenses. It was added a few years ago, but now it is a very down-to-earth civilian lens.
I was afraid that my brother would be dissatisfied with the effect after changing the headlights, so I specially chose a night to go to the countryside to test the lights. This is a low beam effect, and the paving effect is very good. The light is soft and has no black spots, and the tangent lines are clear and the light distance is good.
This is a high-beam effect, with a large irradiation area and a trapezoidal shape. This is the noted Hella's Corner.
Up to now, the problem has been successfully solved, but because the Yuanbaoliang subframe has been touched, a four-wheel alignment must be done. We are responsible car repairers and must do it to perfection.
