Continuing from the above, I have been shopping for old BMWs before. The E46 I love is not very popular here in the northwest. I can only find the E39 which is of average quality. I was reluctant but had to do this. On the way to look for the E39, an E46 that I loved suddenly appeared. So I quickly took action to win him over. If that's the case, let's continue talking.
Like many people, my obsession with the E46 comes from "Need for Speed 9". When I was in high school, I could only dream of this kind of car. I vaguely remember that there was a female driver driving the car after school. When a red E46 318 passed by me, I felt really...
I have always liked cars, but now there are too many people who are interested in cars, and everyone is gradually moving from car love to professional understanding and learning, so in this article I will start from the perspective of an enthusiast. I won’t talk about professionalism, but I will tell you how a non-professional enthusiast “plays” with this E46 from a small place I know. If you want to read some professional stuff, don’t waste your time here. There are a lot of people playing E46 and there are a lot of posts. Please move elsewhere... Hahahaha...
It has been almost a month since I bought this car, and I have been sorting it out. It is still pending registration. I originally made an appointment to get the license plate on Thursday, but we encountered this ransomware virus and our local vehicle management office stopped accepting it. But I can’t help but want to write a post, so let’s talk about the piecemeal preparation work this month. If I have the chance, I will write more about the time when E46 came to me.
I almost bought the E39. Although the car was in good condition, I almost bought it. In the end, it was defeated by the E46. It's a pity. Because I am also the owner of the current 5 Series, I feel that there is really no need to buy another 5 Series. Moreover, the purpose of buying an old BMW this time is firstly to fulfill a childhood dream, and secondly to occupy a mobile phone number. So this is the E46, which is small and easy to drive. So goodbye E39!
The real owner shows up, E46 325. It is the last version of 2004. How can I say the condition of the car... I can't say it is good, I can only say it is pretty good, which is more worry-free. The car was registered in 2004 and was registered in 2005. It is 12 years old. I think it is understandable for a car that is more than ten years old to have a small scratch or accident. It is also reasonable for some plastic and rubber parts to be damaged and aged. , so during the process of choosing a car, I basically maintained a tolerant heart... If there is a problem, I can use it to negotiate the price, and there is nothing wrong with using the money to repair it.
As for this car...the interior is generally good, just a little dirty, but very complete. 10W kilometers is basically believable. Because after I got the car, I went to our local 4S store. I took a quick look and found that the last time this car was in the store was in 2014. At that time, it had a history of more than 70,000 years, and it has not been in the store since. Moreover, there are many traces of long-term parking in the car (rat droppings that dried into powder, moldy and deformed air conditioning filter element, yellowish brake fluid, etc.). So I won’t delve into the mileage issue anymore and just let it happen.
This is what it looked like on the first day it was in my hands. It’s basically pretty good, but there are still problems if you look closely. Now you can see this fender, the paint surface is simply terrible... and there are many details that are also very cruel...
The rear...the taillights are cracked...and there are signs of water ingress and mildew...
Look at the rain guide on the front windshield! ! It’s simply unbearable! ! ! Was this something that was gnawed by mice? ? Or was it the previous owner who got old and left it idle? ? It’s simply unbearable! ! !
Look at the trunk lift! ! ! Damn it... rusty ones have no friends... these two ejector rods act like dampers when the trunk is opened...
Come on, come on, everyone, come and watch to see the extent of the rust! !
When the car arrived, the paint on the right front fender was poor, there were two holes in the sunroof, and there were grooves on the left rear door. After some calculations about spray painting and sheet metal, I simply decided to repaint the entire vehicle. Many experts say that when refurbishment of an old car should be done from the inside out first, then the appearance first. But for me... forget it... let it go... just be happy...
Photos taken during the painting process. How should I put it... In fact, except for a few parts, the paint on this car is pretty good, but if I feel like doing it, I can do it all. I won't save a lot, and I'm not in a hurry to drive it anyway. At that time, I didn’t know the effect of the finished work, so I felt quite uneasy.
Here’s another photo…Today’s decline is for tomorrow’s beauty…
While the painting was being done, I took a closer look at the body...it was still pretty good...
It’s beautiful even after it’s taken apart! ! ! This is what it looks like after it's done.
The effect of the entire car after the paint is finished... I used it for the cover... How should I put it... Although the newly painted paint looks good, it can obviously feel that the paint is a little thinner. Thin doesn't mean it's bad. After all, more than ten years have passed and the technology and process have been improving, so... if it looks beautiful, it's good. Another thing is that I carefully studied the E46 car. It looks like a silver car, but the actual effect is average. The white car looks ugly in photos, but the actual effect is very beautiful. It is only for reference.
The paint surface is solved... let's solve the appearance part again! For rain guide trough, the 4S store recommended that I just buy it directly from Taobao... So I went and bought it... More than 400 to less than 500, the battle was solved!
The wipers are rusty... That's what old cars are like, there are no major problems, just minor problems, not big, but disgusting.
Taken apart... Let's see how dirty this is.
Compare the old and new! Aged to the point of turning white!
Looking at the details!
Once the paint is done, it will look good no matter how you look at it.
Come on, come on... Let's take a look at this extremely dirty air conditioning filter.
Come on... take a look at the rat droppings on the air conditioner filter... some of the rat droppings have turned into powder...
Come on, come on... Let's take a look at the engine compartment... It's still pretty good...
Start working on the interior...removing the seats...fuck! ! ! ! The rubber parts have become like this! I can't bear it! !
One thing to say... As a car that is more than ten years old... it is basically clean... and there are still many coins left by the previous owner...
It turned purple after being dismantled... I think it's okay... not as dirty as I thought.
Detail of the aged and shredded rubber padding of the rear seat...
After dismantling it, it was cleaned...
The air conditioner filter bracket after cleaning... is still good.
The newly made trunk mat... um... the BMW logo... came as a gift when I bought the air intake grille... obviously not the size of the E46... Who wants to send a private message...
In the car... I have a one-to-three charging system, which is used to charge the driving recorder and occasionally mobile phones.
Now the only problem with the interior! The hand buckle of the sunroof lining...hey...take your time
under! Brake disc! Two deep grooves...the previous owner had such a generous heart! ! Both front wheels were no longer working, so I decided to replace all four! ! ! The brake discs are original and the brake pads are wear-resistant...
Can you see the two slots? ? ? ? Damn it...
The new disk...well...looks much better.
Brake pads that have been worn to the extreme...
The 4S store found out that there are two recalls...the total price is about 8,000...not bad...but out of stock...just wait...
Let's talk about it... This car attracted a lot of attention when it came into the shop... The technician took the car out and tried it, and took a look at it on the shelf. Although there were regular problems such as oil leakage, they were not prominent. Burning oil There is no phenomenon, and it is not bad. The only problem now is that the gearbox sometimes reports malfunctions for unknown reasons, the generator is not in good condition, some rubber parts of the chassis show signs of aging, and the four shock absorber dust boots are all damaged. It needs to be replaced...the original car's low beam headlights basically don't have any...take your time...
Let’s stop here first… I’ll write about it later if you like it.
This car, how can I put it... I will definitely spend money when I get it, but it's okay... I have to spend a lot of money on myself, and there is nothing I can do about it...
The follow-up of this car is definitely not over yet. If you like it, you can support it. I will continue to update it.
I am not proficient, so I will follow what I am not proficient in. Even if I am not proficient, I can like it and love it! ! There's no shame in it, just write whatever comes to mind, and don't judge it with a professional eye...that would be boring.
Hahahaha... Who will save my glass heart? ?
