Automatic headlights are very practical, but many low-end cars don’t have them. You can install automatic headlights online. Is it useful for 100 yuan or 200 yuan? A low-profile car can become a high-profile car in seconds. What is the actual effect? Let's test it.
There are two main types of automatic headlights
I bought 2 types of automatic headlights, both costing more than 200 yuan. One is an integrated type, the light sensor and controller are concentrated on the headlight knob, the other is an assembled headlight, you have to put it together yourself.
How to install integrated automatic headlights
To try this integrated automatic headlight first, first turn off the power to the car.
- Replace fuse
After a power outage in a few models, the headlight fuse needs to be replaced. Replacing the fuse is quite simple. You just need to follow the manual and drawings given by the dealer.
- Remove the original headlight knob
Then remove the headlight knob of the original car, turn the headlight knob to the off position, press it firmly to the front, then turn it a short distance clockwise, and finally pull it out. Generally, the headlight knob can be taken off.
If the headlight knob is stuck and cannot be pulled out, you can open the fuse box on the side and push outward behind the knob to take out the headlight knob.
Finally, unplug the wiring harness plug behind the knob and install it on the new automatic headlight knob. The installation is done in 3 minutes.
- Good effect, quick response
After installing it, I tried it. The automatic headlights I installed myself worked well. Block the light sensor with your hand, and the headlights will automatically turn on in less than 1 second, very quickly.
The light sensor is also very sensitive. The headlights were turned on as soon as we drove into the basement, and there are also functions such as leaving home mode and coming home mode.
Although the response speed is a little slower than that of the original factory, and it takes 1 or 2 seconds to light up, it actually does not have much impact. It takes more than a second to open the door, right?
How to install assembled automatic headlights
Then try the assembled automatic headlights.
- Replace the fuse and remove the headlight knob
The starting steps are the same, take off the headlight knob, and replace the fuse on the car when changing the fuse.
- Connect the wiring harness behind the headlight knob
It is different when installing the headlight knob, because the assembled headlight control module is relatively large and cannot be inserted into the opening of the headlight knob, so you need to open the fuse box and insert it behind the headlight knob.
Remember to connect the headlight cable before stuffing it in.
The control module has its own wire harness connector, which is connected to the automatic headlight knob. Connect the wire harness connector to the new automatic headlight knob.
The last step is to install the light sensor. It is best to install the light sensor under the front guard, not too far to the side, otherwise the small black spots on the glass will block the light metering and the metering will be inaccurate.
Then tidy up the excess wiring harness, put the fuse box back in, and the installation is complete.
- The effect is better than the integrated type and has more functions
Let’s test the effect. I found that when unlocked, the assembled headlights turn on faster than the integrated automatic headlights. Moreover, it can set the lighting time after locking the car, but the integrated headlights cannot be set.
The assembled headlights can also choose to turn on the car's headlights or position lights according to the intensity of the light, while the integrated ones are not so smart.
For example, if the light in the garage is a bit dark, but far from turning on the headlights, it can sense the intensity of the light and switch to position lights, which is more practical on rainy days.
- The two types of automatic headlights each have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the integrated type is recommended.
So the basic functions of these two automatic headlights are pretty good, and the response is relatively sensitive. Friends who don’t have automatic headlights can really consider it, but I can’t sell them this time.
First of all, let me talk about the benefits. Let me talk about the integrated model, which is easy to install and does not require changing the fuse. It can be done in 1 minute, and the basic functions are completely sufficient.
Although assembled headlights respond faster and have more functions, they are troublesome to install, and there are too many wiring harnesses, all of which are stuffed behind the knobs, which poses a safety hazard.
Tire pressure monitoring is more important than airbags, which one is better to install yourself?
Automatic headlights are indeed very practical, and the cost is not high. In order to make more money, manufacturers ask us to buy high-end configurations, but they do not equip you with this thing. There are many similar configurations, which make us uncomfortable. We have to pay a lot more. Is it correct to monitor tire pressure for a 1,000-liter upgrade? Many low-end cars don’t have it, so you can install it yourself.
There is also a one-button lifting window, which can also be installed by yourself, and the head-up display can also be installed by yourself. This configuration costs 5,000, this configuration costs 10,000, and you can install them all by yourself for 100 or 200. What is the effect? How to install it? Is it worth buying? The videos are all prepared for you to test.
