The consumer report assessment includes five categories of tests: system capability and system performance, driver participation, ease of use, safety, and driver response without response.The agency evaluated 17 different systems, a significant increase over the four systems tested for the first time in 2018. The test was conducted from June to September 2020. Consumer report rated each system in 36 separate tests, some of which were conducted on public roads.The result surprised many people, that is, Cadillac's super cruise performed better than Tesla autopilot and won in three of the five categories.

Unlike Tesla's radical auxiliary driving function, Cadillac's super cruise function is more gentle, safe and conservative.
