Fogging/condensation of car headlights is a very common phenomenon that many car owners have encountered. It is not a big problem, but it is very annoying. If it is serious, it will threaten the life of the car lights. So this How is this phenomenon caused?
1. Damage to the headlight shade is a common cause. Some are due to external impacts, and some are due to quality problems. Fogging/moisture is caused by external water droplets or fog entering the inside of the headlight. If the lamp cover is damaged, this phenomenon is inevitable.
2. There is a ventilation pipe inside the car headlight that is connected to the outside world to dissipate heat and discharge excess gas. In winter, when the car lights are turned off after working for a period of time, the internal temperature of the headlight unit drops, the air pressure becomes low, and the humid air from the outside enters the inside of the headlight through the ventilation pipe and condenses into water droplets.
3. In heavy rain or after washing the car, there is too much water vapor from the outside, which will inevitably enter the inside of the headlight along the ventilation duct.
How to solve the problem of foggy/condensed headlights
1. Recall the recent use of the car to see if there has been any scratches, collisions or other foreign objects. Then carefully check the headlight shade to see if there is any damage or cracks. If so, go to the 4S store for repair or replacement in time.
2. Fogging/water vapor caused by the temperature difference in winter cannot be completely avoided. As long as it is not particularly serious, there is no need to go to a 4S store to spend money for repairs. After turning on the car lights for a period of time, the temperature of the headlights will turn the water vapor into fog, and eventually This is actually a normal phenomenon when the lamp is discharged through the exhaust pipe.
3. Fogging/water vapor caused by heavy rain or after washing the car should be treated differently. If it is not serious, the car lights will disappear automatically after a period of time. However, if the water accumulation is serious, you need to go to a 4S shop or a professional auto repair shop. Check and replace the ventilation pipe, and more seriously, the headlight assembly needs to be replaced. It is not recommended that car owners disassemble it by themselves, because the car lights are relatively delicate and require special tools to dismantle them.
If the vehicle is still within the manufacturer's warranty period and there is a water intrusion problem, we will promptly go to the 4S store for warranty repairs. If the warranty period is exceeded, you can choose a professional repair shop or a related brand 4S store to perform repairs at your own expense.
