I have a brand new MQB Sagitar.
Today is the Chinese New Year. Due to the epidemic, I have nothing to do at home. I am not busy doing anything, so I simply changed the headlights.
First of all, I would like to state why I am obsessed with flagship adaptive headlights, and I will give you some popular science knowledge:
Adaptive steering headlights are automatic steering headlights, which can also be called automatic headlights. Adaptive steering headlights are referred to as AFS, and their full name is automotive adaptive headlight systems or smart headlight systems. The Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS) can continuously dynamically adjust the headlights according to the car's steering wheel angle, vehicle deflection rate and driving speed to adapt to the current steering angle and keep the light direction consistent with the car's current driving speed. The direction is consistent to ensure optimal illumination of the road ahead and optimal visibility to the driver, significantly enhancing the safety of driving in the dark. In road conditions with poor road lighting or many curves, it can expand the driver's field of vision and alert the other party of approaching vehicles in advance.
1. Spare parts preparation
Let’s get to the point. The flagship’s adaptive headlights are part of the safety configuration. They can also appropriately increase the brightness at night. Of course, they are also very handsome. Unfortunately, they are not turning lights.
Here is a list of purchases needed to replace the headlights:
1. A pair of flagship follow-up lights, part numbers 17G941081A, 17G941082A, 081 is the left, 082 is the right
2. 338c module, part number 3Q0907338C
3. Horizontal position bracket, part number 5Q0907503
4. Adapter cables for low-end and high-end versions and body control module adapters
5. Four fixing screws (it is recommended to buy original spare parts)
Brand new original headlights
A pair of well-packaged headlights
Other spare parts needed
original label
Forgot to send me the screws, I have to assemble them myself, it’s so difficult!
2. Horizontal bracket installation
Jack up the car and remove the tires. Please ignore me in black clothes, haha
Use a T25 screwdriver or ratchet to remove the lining
Remove the inner lining. The part on the circle is the waterproof plug. The wire of the level sensor is passed from here.
Drill under the car and find the sensor installation location
Installation location and orientation
Follow the line according to feel, stay away from the exhaust pipe to prevent it from being baked at high temperatures, and secure it with a tie.
The wire goes in through the hole mentioned above.
Go over the handlebar from the rear seat
The horizontal bracket is finally done, and the inner lining and tires are installed (for me, a fat person, this project is suffocating for me)
3. BCM wiring
Remove the main driver's side panel and snap it off
Use a T20 screwdriver to remove the large cover.
There are screws behind the headlight switch
Take it apart like this, find BCM
The BCM is found, the circle is the buckle, then unplug it
Is this 5Q0 a high-end configuration?
Remove the cabin cover handle and lift the buckle inside to take it off.
The wire of the bracket passes through this and is connected to the BCM
The three wires of the sensor are connected to A-23.A-22.C-57 of the BCM.
4. 338C module wiring
Wrap the two headlight control wires
Run the wire harness in the direction of the flower.
The left headlight conversion cable is fixed
The headlight follow-up control line is connected to 338C, just connect the plug and plug it in
Connect the red, yellow and red and white wires to the ACC power cord
My brother helped me connect the gateway cable. The space is too small and I really can’t get in.
After installation, power on to eliminate the fault code.
5. Matching test
Plug in the new headlights and get ready for testing
I don’t know how to match this, I asked a master to do it, haha
After matching, the right headlight is normal.
The left headlight is normal
Then remove the front bumper and install the new headlights
What it looks like after removing the front bumper
After installation, the C-shaped running lights are really beautiful.
The central control no longer adjusts the height of the headlights, but has more follow-up options.
Night driving light effect
night effect
The lighting effect at night is quite satisfactory.
At this point, the headlight modification is all done.
