Following BOE's construction of 6-generation flexible AMOLED panel production lines in Chengdu and Mianyang, Huaxing optoelectronics, another panel giant in China, will also build 6-generation flexible AMOLED panel production lines in Wuhan, which will break the situation that the flexible mobile phone screen is dominated by Korean enterprises.

On the evening of March 31, TCL Group (000100. SZ) announced that Huaxing optoelectronics and the Management Committee of Wuhan East Lake New Technology Development Zone officially signed a cooperation agreement on the 6th generation LTPS AMOLED project, and planned to invest in the construction of a 6th generation ltps-amoled flexible display panel production line with a monthly production capacity of 45000 pieces, which will adopt the flexible substrate, flexible LTPS process, high-efficiency OLED Advanced technologies such as flexible touch control and flexible cover adopt the production process of organic evaporation. The main products are 3 12 inch high-resolution small and medium-sized flexible foldable AMOLED display panels.

The project is planned to start construction before June 30, 2017, achieve mass production in 2020, with a total investment of about 35 billion yuan, of which the registered capital of the project company is 21 billion yuan, Huaxing optoelectronics is 11 billion yuan, and the investment subject designated by Wuhan East Lake Management Committee is 10 billion yuan, For the difference between the total investment and the registered capital of the project company, the East Lake Management Committee will coordinate banks and other financial institutions to provide loans to the target company.Because AMOLED panel has excellent properties such as light and thin flexible display, high contrast and fast response speed, it is conducive to its application in foldable smart phones, wearable electronic devices, vehicle and VR / AR display fields. According to IHS data, the penetration rate of ltps-lcd and ltps-amoled in the global smartphone market continues to increase, reaching 41% and 30% respectively in 2018, occupying the main market share.The new smart phones that Apple will launch this year begin to use AMOLED screens. Domestic mobile phone manufacturers represented by oppo, vivo and Huawei also gradually increase the application proportion of AMOLED in their high-end smart phones.

However, at present, the global OLED production capacity is basically monopolized by Korean panel manufacturers, and Samsung's market share in smart phone AMOLED screen has reached more than 95%. Due to high OLED technical barriers, shortage of upstream materials and key equipment supply and complex process, domestic panel enterprises have not yet produced large-scale mass production.

As early as 2014, Huaxing optoelectronics has invested 16 billion yuan to build a 6-generation ltps-lcd panel line (T3) in Wuhan and has been put into operation at the end of 2016. Since the backplane substrate of AMOLED panel mainly adopts LTPS process, the mass production of Huaxing optoelectronics T3 project will provide technical accumulation for the construction of its ltps-amoled project. It is reported that Wuhan Huaxing optoelectronics has completed the construction of AMOLED flexible display core management team, configured a large number of experienced core technical talents, and specially built the 4.5 generation flexible OLED R & D line project to speed up the development of flexible display technology and products. The flexible OLED test products independently developed by Wuhan Huaxing Optoelectronics have been produced, The performance of the product is being improved and improved.

At present, Huaxing optoelectronics has put into operation two generation 8.5 lines, and has started to build the world's highest generation 11 line. Its market share in large-size display panels continues to increase, including the second in the world for 32 inch panel products and the third in the world for 55 inch panel products. Its 6th generation ltps-lcd line (T3) has achieved mass production. After the completion of Huaxing optoelectronics T4 project, the layout of small and medium-sized products will be more perfect to enhance its competitive strength in the field of small and medium-sized high-end display, especially flexible display. At the same time, TCL Group's comprehensive competitiveness and profitability in the global semiconductor display field will continue to increase.

BOE, another leading panel enterprise in China, has successively invested and built two 6-generation flexible AMOLED panel production lines in Chengdu and Mianyang in 2016. The Mianyang 6-generation AMOLED production line project is planned to invest a total of 46.5 billion yuan, with a planned capacity of 48000 glass substrates per month.
