Some netizens said that the force of the rear-end collision was not small, but it did not cause a fire. It seemed to be an oil circuit problem. The overall rigidity of NIO was not bad, but the ideal materials were not enough.

At around 16:09 on August 6, 2020, an accident occurred in a driving Ideal ONE on the Erguang Expressway in the direction of Sihui and Lianzhou in Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, causing the vehicle to catch fire.

The cause of the accident was initially determined to be that an object suspected to be a piece of iron was rolled up by a high-speed vehicle and penetrated the high-pressure oil pipe, causing fuel to splash and ignite at high temperatures in the exhaust pipe.

On May 8 last year, on the streets of Changsha City, Hunan Province, an Ideal ONE caught fire due to foreign objects adhering to the interior of the vehicle's front cabin.

According to the live video circulated on the Internet at the time, a large amount of thick smoke came out of the cabin in front of the accident vehicle and was accompanied by a fire. After the open flame was extinguished, the front face and front hood of the vehicle were almost completely burned.

Data shows that the sales volume of Ideal ONE in October reached 7,649 units, a year-on-year increase of 107.2%. NIO EC6’s sales in October were 921 units, a sharp decline.

As a model of "new car-making force", the performance of NIO ES6 is not ideal. Its sales volume in October was only 2,528 units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%, which is somewhat contrary to the overall situation of the new energy market.
