Brother Meow’s friend’s Audi has a faulty reversing light, and the instrument panel shows that the left rear reversing light is faulty. Today Brother Meow will talk to you about how to fix this situation yourself.
We can clearly see that there is moisture and moss in the reversing light position, so Brother Meow concluded that water must have entered. Now take out the reversing light and take a look.
Disassembly method
The disassembly method is very simple. First, peel off the plastic cover under the reversing light. When you look up, you will see an oblique opening with a screw. Just use a screwdriver to unscrew the screw at an angle and the entire reversing light assembly will be removed. It can be taken down.
Now I saw that after taking off the reversing light unit, water began to drip down immediately, and a lot of water leaked. That is, nearly half of the entire reversing light was filled with water.
Reasons why the reversing light does not come on
Since the reversing lights are halogen, they get very hot when turned on and explode when exposed to water, so they do not light up, causing the entire light group to be affected.
Brother Miao analyzed the injury to the reversing light. It was estimated that it was hit while reversing, causing a crack on the outer shell of the light. In addition, there was also a long crack in the outer shell, and water would enter through the upper seam.
Brother Miao checked that the reversing lights from the auxiliary factory cost more than 400, and the original ones were twice as expensive. Brother Miao thought for a while and decided to forget it. He just used structural glue to repair it. It is basically sufficient and can avoid water intrusion to a large extent.
Repair status
After completing the repair, you can turn on the ignition and take a look to see if the fault code disappears.
After the fault code disappears, just check whether there is any subsequent water leakage. Even if there is water leakage, it will fog up slightly. At least it will not affect the use of the reversing lights and will not blow up the reversing lights.
After checking the fault code, he put the lamp back together. Brother Miao chose not to replace the lamp unit because it was too expensive to replace it. He just put some structural glue to fill the cracks. As long as there is no water leakage, it will be fine.
Summarize
The above is the repair of the Audi reversing light. The process is relatively simple and convenient. First, open the plastic cover under the light group, unscrew the screws diagonally above the inside, and the entire light group can be taken out.
If your lamp is flooded or fogged, you can also use this method to repair it, or dry the fog and then find the leaking area and fix it. You don't necessarily have to replace it with a new one.
