It is not uncommon for people who drive frequently to have foggy headlights. But, do you know the reason for the fog?
Under normal circumstances, whether it is an ordinary halogen headlight, a xenon headlight, or a headlight with an LED light set, there is a ventilation rubber tube on the back cover. A large amount of heat will be generated when the headlights are lit and even when the headlights are in use. The function of the breather pipe is to discharge this heat out of the headlights as much as possible to maintain the normal operating temperature of the headlights and ensure the use of the headlights. Stablize. However, there are still some situations that can cause your headlights to fog up!
external environmental impact
When the temperature difference is large, moisture in the air will enter the headlight through the breather pipe and adhere to the lampshade. As the water vapor gathers, water droplets will flow down the lampshade.
Solution: When encountering this situation, you don’t need to worry too much. Usually you just need to turn on the car lights, increase the internal temperature of the headlights, and speed up the vaporization of internal water droplets. After about 10 to 20 minutes, the water vapor in the car lights will slowly pass through. The trachea evaporates.
Improper operation
For example, a vehicle wading through water. Since the engine and exhaust system themselves are relatively large heat sources, a large amount of water vapor will be formed when rainwater falls on the vehicle after wading into water, and part of the water vapor will enter the headlights along the ventilation pipe; in addition, when washing the car, many car owners Everyone likes to use a high-pressure water gun to wash the car. If the water in the engine compartment is not dealt with in time, the water vapor cannot be quickly dispersed outside the car after the engine compartment cover is closed. The water vapor trapped in the engine compartment may enter the inside of the headlights. .
Solution: For fogging caused by car washing or wading in water, you can promptly open the dust cover of the car lights and turn on the lights to evaporate the fog. If the fog does not disappear completely after 1 hour, or if fog occurs frequently in the car lights, you need to go to the 4S store for inspection to confirm whether the car lights are damaged and whether the sealing mechanism is loose.
Poor sealing of car lights
If the headlights are not tightly sealed, they will not only form fog, but may also accumulate water. If there is always a lot of fog and water accumulation in the car headlights, you need to confirm the sealing of the lights, such as whether the lamps are cracked and whether the rear cover sealing ring is assembled in place. When it cannot be repaired, new lamps need to be replaced.
After eliminating the above reasons, if you find that there is water accumulation in the headlights of your car, and the water accumulation is serious, you should go to a repair shop to have it repaired. If water still appears in the headlights after repairs, the only option is to replace them.
